Shopping for a weapon. A friend suggested a Sig 225. What do you think? I currently own two .22 cal rifles, a Winchester 25-35 and an M-1 carbine with three 10 round mags. I live in SoCal and want to buy before it is too late. Thank you all for your advice.
I like the simplicity and reliability of a revolver. 357 for me!
I have a Sig p220 that hates lead bullets which has relegated it to the back of the safe. Jacketed rounds shoot as well as out of any of my 1911s but lead bullets tumble and accuracy is terrible. Also, the takedown lever locked up completely and was a PIA to replace.
I love the trigger but I’ve had better luck with different manufacturers.
That and they ain’t cheap.
So TRUE!
Warm and fuzzy feeling!

I was this >< close to seeking a PX4 in .40 S&W today to become my first semiauto pistol. But there are so many other choices and I am horribly indecisive.
The only Sig I have ever had jam was a P-225. I pretty much blame it on the PMC 90 grain jhp which just was too short to be really reliable. The stuff did function perfectly in the almost identical P-226.
It did make me think that double column magazines are probably more reliable than single stack, at least with tapered rounds like the 9mm, not that there are not reliable ones such as the P-38 etc.
Hmmmm typical Freep gun thread. You mention you’re thinking of acquiring a particular pistol, and two hundred strangers fill you in on what THEY’RE carrying - and no one speaks to the point.
Navy SEALS carry SIGs - what does that tell you?
Unlike scores of armchair pistoleros, their lives DEPEND on their weapons, and those SIGs prove themselves every day of the year in conditions so unspeakable you can’t even imagine them.
As I said at the outset, SIG 225 - Magnificent!
Glock 17 with a extra mag.
What am I afraid of? Not a thing.
The gun functioned, I just couldn’t clean it until I got to my smithing tools and couldn’t use it again until the new takedown lever arrived.
I like to reload, I have 3 other pistols that are tack drivers with cast bullets, the Sig doesn’t like them and I have to shoot factory or buy jacketed rounds.
It’s not a bad gun and other than the takedown lever seizing, it probably would be a great gun for someone with different needs.
Save your money. Get the address of any freeper and find the nearest pond, river, or lake. All Freeper guns end up at the bottom of the nearest body of water. Rent some SCUBA gear and stock up....
One thing I would consider is finding out what handguns and ammunition your local police force carry. The reason, I heard, was that if, God forbid, you ever have to defend yourself you can not be accused of using a cop killer dum-dum bullet firing armor piercing death machine handgun. Something to consider in California.
If you can afford one, get a Kimber .45
One fine pistol with just the right knock em the hell OUT fire power.
My wife carries a Taurus Slim (MM which is probably similar in size and a bit cheaper - it hasn't had any issues but has one of them "pull me for a mile" triggers as part of the safety system which can hurt accuracy.
I have a Smith & Wesson 9MM SW9VE with a 16 round mag and it has been flawless for being as inexpensive as it was.
For really easy carry, I use either a Ruger LCP .380 or a similar .380 from Kahr - I like the Ruger better....
My wife has one in .45,she loves that gun.
Thanks for letting me know; I had never experienced that. I will see if I can duplicate it or at least find more information.

I second that. I bought one (19) for my wife and tried numerous different rounds to keep it from jamming without success.
It would fail to feed about every 3rd round.
I could hold it so lightly it almost fell on the ground when it fired and not duplicate the problem.
All I can guess is she pulls back as it fires.
I bought her a 9mm Makarov and it works for her. I love the Mak!
For various reason, I talked myself into the Nano instead. I went to the local vendor and closed the deal a few minutes before Imam Obama gave his speech tonight. Just walked in the door with it.
The Nano is excellent,a great concealment gun.The usual Beretta high quality.
I’m excited about it and bought plenty of ammo for the CCW permit course.
