I donât much care WHAT they call it ... it will alweays be BC and AD to meThe article is about Jews in Israel. Jews have been using "BCE" and "CE" since the 19th century, as a way of using the same calendar as our gentile neighbors without affirming a faith that isn't ours.

“BP (Before Present) makes the most sense”
Not really.
The present changes. BC and AD do not.

I corrected myself and agreed in posts 17 and 19.

Mitchner wrote a similar yarn about the history of England, called Sarum. Great read.

I think the secular progressives started using "BCE" to replace "BC" a number of years ago, with the acronym meaning "Before Common Era." I have one simple question for folks who insist on the silly "BCE" nomenclature: "What is the defining event that divides the two eras?"

I liked “THe Source” as well. It’s really my favorite of his books that I’ve read.

“”BP” (Before Present) makes the most sense.
Except that every year it changes.”
Actually it doesn’t. Archaeology defines the present as 1950.
