Amazon prime vs Netflix: need opinions on which (or neither)
11/28/15 | me

I currently have netflix for both dvds and streaming. Streaming doesn't seem to have alot of choices. Was thinking about signing up for Amazon Prime. I currently get my kindle books and vitamins there.

Anyone here have input on the diff between AP and NF and if one is better than the other?

Thanks!

If you or someone in your family is associated with a school and have an .edu email address, Amazon Prime is half price.

“like old movies “

I probably overlooked it, but is there a section where you can see a list of the movies you want to watch or do you have to watch the one he's picked for the day. Reason I ask is he said if "we" missed yesterday's film it was a Shirley Temple one. I don't see a FAQ section or instructions on how the site works. Thanks.

As a matter of fact, yes, MST3K will be making more episodes. Recently Joel Hodgson launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for more episodes. This has been spectacularly successful and three new shows are already assured, with many more likely to come.

I have both and enjoy them both tremendously , Netflix is great for finding tv shows, and their Jessica Jones & Daredevil series are amazing, true to the comic, but not kid friendly. I mainly use Amazon for movies, and Netlflix for tv shows. Got rid of cable last year! I use both and love them!

I have Amazon Prime primarily for the free shipping on orders. I watch one movie every other month on Amazon. I have Netflix and Hulu.
I like Netflix, but the $4 extra for commercial free on Hulu is great as my source for watching TV shows.

Yes Youtube has the whole movie with one click, no more part1, 2, etc. That was an issue with video length limits which has been changed.

I have Netflix and Amazon Prime. Netflix for streaming movies and kids shows.

The interesting one is Prime. I had it for shipping before they offered streaming. I have kept it and will for the future. Besides 2-day shipping, I get unlimited photo storage in the cloud, additional storage for non-photo files, audio streaming, and video streaming. I dropped a couple of other audio streaming services when AMZ added music to Prime. I also dropped cloud storage providers and went to Prime. Bottom line is AMZ Prime offers many more features that may interest you.

Never got hulu....besides, Netflix and AMZ have several lifetimes of content.

Off topic.... What’s your take on the mst3k reboot. I think it will fail — rifftrax has done well and Bill, Mike, & Kevin have chemistry. I just don’t see it with the new actors — they take the easy bathroom humor jokes. BTW, I do stream from rifftrax... They offer a download option as well

Cable was over $130 a month and now I spend $20 for Sling TV and approx $45 for internet service = $65
I also have Netflix $9/month and Amazon Prime $99/ a year which I got mainly for the shipping as I buy a lot thru them. I setup favorite shows to watch thru their websites so I can get right to watching.
Sling TV includes ESPN and ESPN2 channels and 3 movie channels called EPIX along with most of the cable channels you would watch. Sling https://www.sling.com See what channels you get.

I figure I am spending around $85 a month and I get more variety then cable and in the case of Amazon quick shipping and I can easily cut back unlike with the cable company.

Buy a ROKU box. It includes Disney plus many other cable channels so no need to buy Disney for an additional $5 from Sling. Download from roku.com more programming like Amazon and Netflix (need to sign up with

them) and a hundred others. You need a tv with HDMI and USB connections. The more the better. Plus a router to share the internet connection with the tv and computer.

Looking for old Polish movies and TV series — I have not found them since Demonoid and Pirate Bay disappeared. I actually have Amazon Prime for the shipping - never tried the videos. If they have Ranczo or similar, how would I get started looking for them and watching?

It used to be video could only be 15 min in length. They dropped that restriction a few years ago. You may still find some that were uploaded that way, but now you can get a full length movie with no breaks.

This morning Amazon Prime, paid for itself again.

We have a Cuisinart auto grind coffee with the ever lasting metal thermo pot.

About once a year without warning, the various washable inside parts and thermo lid stop working without warning and we have wet coffee on the countertop.

That happened this morning, and I was able to minimize the spillage.

I had the replacement parts from Amazon on hand and replaced them, and started a new pot, which worked with no problem.

After the first cup worked on my old mind, I fired up my chromebook and reordered the parts x 2 on Prime and ordered some tea our picky DIL loves for part of her Christmas present. The order will be here in two days with no charge. No shopping or dealing with locals, who are a PIA to deal with, usually without the inventory and having to pay outrageous shipping and service charges.

One of our teenage grandkids asks for an Amazon gift card, for birthdays/Christmas, and she will order stuff via her parents Prime and pay for it with her Amazon gift card. All of our grandkids have their own shipping addresses via Amazon as well as their parents for birthdays and specials from us.

One of our adult sons is a bike addict and rides thousands of miles per year. His birthday and Christmas requests are often special biking gear, and over 90% of the time, we can get them via prime at a great price plus free shipping.

Another son is a bowhunter and excellent fly fisher. Between Amazon and Cabela’s, we find what he wants for birthdays and Christmas.

My Christmas/birthday presents are like our granddaughter’s, Amazon Gift Cards.

Last but not least, I have the Kindle Cloud App on my MS10 laptop, Chromebook and Acer tablet. I have Trump’s new book and a couple of his older books on them. I prefer Kindle for reference and research. We ordered our Tracfone Android phones Via Prime, got a great deal, including some additional time at a great price. I will update/replace mine with the Christmas Amazon cards without some wise A$$ clerk looking down on me for buying a Tracfone/Android instead of an expensive I phone, which I don’t need nor want.

That’s my experience also. I get enough stuff from Amazon to pay for the membership, so theTV part is just free for me.

BOL! I bought some extra sticks just in case. They are cheap and the voice search works pretty good, considering I have a hard time making myself understood even on the telephone.

I have a SW/Southern accent at times, and I don't have a problem on the phone or with my Android tablet/phone or Chromebook using the Google voice app.. However, about 30% of the time with our new Xfinity box and smart tv, I'm not understood.

My wife grew up in the Midwest and has zero accent, and some of her distant midwest cousins ended up on tv news as readers due to their lack of accent. One of her patients tried to get her to record commands/options for one of his voice systems, and she turned him down at that time. So, she has zero problems with our tv voice commands with the exception of the new show Limitless. So, we have decided to record it on our DVR and just run the episodes from our DVR.

We really need a strong conservative president that picks strong fcc commissioners that will once and for all, put the death knell on bundled stations. That is all mandated to prop up the networks as no one would order them if it were ala carted.

Trump and Cruz as his attorney general would stop that bs very quickly as payback for how the nets have treated them.
