My wife will call me to dispose of spiders. I always scoop them up and throw them outside.

Earlier this year she discovered a black widow, (with egg sack), outside in the yard.

I scooped it up, (egg sack too), and placed it in a field by our house.

Over the years we have found several black widows in the yard. I have a picture of one of them somewhere on the computer.

Supposedly, we have them here.

I have yet to find one....despite my frantic searching.

Bummer.

Also, I have not seen one of those huge, beautiful Garden Spiders in decades.

No idea why but they seemed to have vanished.

Another bummer.

I must content myself with fussing over the Orb Weavers in the yard and the jumping spiders on my kitchen window sill.

I was minding my own business and got “tagged” on the back of my leg by a brown recluse a few years ago. I’ll leave most of them alone but if it looks like a brown recluse or a black widow it’s gonna die.

Same goes for red wasps.

I read somewhere where taking an indoor spider and putting it outside is as good as killing it - they won’t survive. (Unless of course they just find there way back in again!)

Most spiders I let stay in the house. Except the big hairy common house spiders we have here in Seattle, which look pretty close to the Hobo spider that can give a good bite.

Otherwise they are helpful to catch the stray fly that makes it into the house. (I really can’t stand flies! Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz.....)
