BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -
A woman working the overnight shift at a Biloxi Waffle House was shot and killed early Friday morning, and police say it was all over a cigarette.
Investigators say an argument erupted when a waitress told a customer he couldn't smoke inside the restaurant. Johnny Mount, 45, refused to put out his cigarette, pulled out a handgun he had concealed under his shirt, and shot the woman once in the head.
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said the 52-year-old woman was taken to Merit Health Biloxi where she later died from her injuries.
Mount was arrested as he was leaving the restaurant, and charged with 1st degree murder. He's now being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $2 million bond.

Can’t we now argue that if the liberal do-gooders had not banned smoking in restaurants, this lady would be alive? Therefore it’s the liberals fault - misguided public policy again. Time to protest Waffle House and the state capital, to bring back smoking in restaurants.
That makes two of us. I sense a lot of tension in people these days that was not there before the Kenyan was elected. Ticking time bombs just waiting to go off over the smallest thing. JMO
Hateful looking fellow.
Nothing destroys the palate more than eating with smoke in your face.
It’s the culture. He could have gone outside to have his smoke but he was obviously either high or drunk and didn’t want some busybody low-life woman telling him what to do.
Of course, I loathe the anti-smoking laws and would support repealing all of them. But he must have been looking for trouble, don’t you think?
What kind of a man kills a hard-working woman?
I'm not touchy or on edge. At least not in edge enough to shoot a waitress in a Waffle House or touchy enough to blame anyone but the shooter.
Oh, come on. It’s the Waffle House not Les Quatres Aux Saisons!
So
me may find this odd, but I blame the guy who actually did the shooting.
gun-free zone, apparently ...

Me too. Woo-hoo! Something we agree on. :)

Two strikes and you're out buddy. Hopefully for life.
OK, maybe the food is so bad that it doesn't make a difference.
If the shooter was black and the waitress was white, Obama would never blame him.
Peace to you too, SR!
I remember reading where a man shot dead a farmer in the old west, for no reason at all. the crowd immediately took the shooter to the local livery stable where he was hung so high he had to look down at the moon.
How old were you when your mommy dropped you on your head?
When the wife and I went down south on a road trip last year, I told her we should avoid these Waffle Houses which they don't have up north. I've read a lot of stories in the news about violence in many of them. She laughed and thought I was paranoid.
Yup. And it wasn’t pursued by law enforcement, was it? America will have to really come low before ordinary people take justice into its own hands. Even gun owners are cowed into respecting laws that tie our hands and tie our sense of morality into knots.
Waffle Houses are ok. I’ve spent many hours in them while traveling down south. Perhaps at 2am in Biloxi they may not be ok. 24 hour diners often bring in the drunks and drug addicts and angry, loser guys just ditched by gals.
ANIMAL!!!!! KILL HIM!!
