The wife and I Purchased an electric car about a month ago.
I'm as far as a tree hugger as you can get but we needed a vehicle.
Our son will be starting collage soon so a another vehicle was needed.
Her total commute is close to 6 miles, the car had 2,560 miles when we bought it.
it's a 2012, fairly well equipped with air, power windows, mirrors, power locks, heated seats, etc.
Since the range is only an estimated 62 miles it works for us.
My Car is not restricted on distance since it's petroleum powered so it should work out nicely.
7,750$ for a car that listed @ 23,850 in 2012 looked pretty good.
I had net ever heard about this car it's known as a i miev.
When they come out with an electric Tahoe, I’ll consider it.
Obviously the battery pack has to be somewhat proportional to the vehicle size. So that would make an expensive Tahoe even way more expensive. At 2 bucks a gallon for gasoline, an unsubsidized electric vehicle is not a value proposition in my book.
Maybe picking up a cheap used one like this thread mentions would be economical for the kids to drive to high school or community college, or retirees who don’t travel much.
I was kidding.
I just got a new 2016 Tahoe, it is fantastic. I don’t drive very far, some days not at all, so I am not worried about the mileage. When I do take a road trip, the larger vehicle is what I want.
“It doesnt take a tree hugger to want to eliminate a dependency on gas to fill our vehicles.”
Yes, it does, because it takes someone as dumb as tree huger to say “gas dependency”.
Well, I don’t know what car you drive, but mine depends on gas to operate.
Our electric provider is reducing the current price per KWH to 6.61 cents per KW HRS
SEE MY LATEST POST, GAS HERE IS CURRENTLY 2.40 A GALLON AND GOING UP EVERY DAY. ROUGH CALCULACION, 1.90 A GALLON.
HOW I HATE WINDOWS 10
