NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Tuesday called on Amazon.com Inc to remove "irresponsible and offensive" subway advertisements for a new television show featuring Nazi-inspired imagery.
The advertisements for "The Man in the High Castle" completely wrap the seats, walls and ceilings of one train on the heavily utilized shuttle line that connects Times Square and Grand Central Terminal in midtown Manhattan.
The show depicts an alternate reality in which Nazi Germany and Japan have divided control over the United States after winning World War Two.

Isn’t DeBlasio’s real name Kaiser Wilhelm or something like that? Maybe the show is too close to the truth for his comfort.
To be offensive, the show would have to display the Axis powers in a positive light.
And even if it did, it’s none of de Butthead’s business.
I am offended when I turn on the TV and see two men (or two women) playing tongue hockey. What’s he got to say about that?
Or when I see men in drag and S&M garb marching in a St. Paddie’s Parade. What’s he going to do about that?
Designed by Hugo Boss I think. Sadly, for the German soldiers the uniforms looked pretty but were useless in cold weather.
I think that's what bugs him.
Both the Kaiser and Hitler offered Mexico its former territories in the American Southwest IF it allowed Germany to use Mexico as a base to invade the USA.
Mexico never considered the offer.
It would mean trusting the Germans to honor the agreement AFTER they have full control of North America.
You can’t sue Germany somewhere for breach of contract.
I wonder if the show is true to the story it is based on. In the story, the Allies lost the War because Roosevelt was assassinated.
In reality, the Assassination of Roosevelt would likely have meant that we won faster.
The whole Roosevelt presidency was a disaster. There was so much that Roosevelt “knew that wasn’t so”. Plus, as a leader, no one ever knew where he was going to come from.
His big advantage was that the country was united behind the War effort, and he managed to pick some good generals.
Ah yes, the Star Trek episode in which a planet had a culture similar to Nazi Germany. Did they explain it as part of a theory of parallel planet development? I forget how this planet evolved into Nazi Germany.
The mayor needs to go into his safe space.
To answer your questions, you have to remember he is liberal. Liberals are not offended by homosexual activity or outlandish sexual innuendo at a parade. Since liberals aren’t offended by that, in fact, they like to push things in people’s faces, it’s all good.
On the other hand, if you do anything to offend a liberal, they call for censorship or banishment for the offending party.
They could actually run a show about how a country is taken over by speech control fanatics who shout down anyone who voices a different opinion. Where people lose their jobs, and have their lives totally destroyed for not adhering to the party line. Where any group who says it is “offended” can rampage through city after city, while the cops and citizens have to sit by and watch what they have worked their lives to build is swept away by fires and looting.
Now that would be a truly frightening show.
Oh, it would actually be a documentary on the late great United States.
I know it’s only a coincidence but the ad pix seemed to
show a nazi type flag but with a T in the center.
Subliminal anti-Trump advertising?
With a little help from the leader, it was Hugo Boss.
Spock has a button undone.
(guess I took my time in the Army too serious)
Wacko. Must see.
Found on Netflix.
Get popcorn.
It appears to show a standard Nazi eagle with the swastika replaced by an iron cross.
Federation cultural observer (clandestine, presumably) decided to seek power and introduce some elements of Nazi Germany as economic stimulus and efficiency measures. His creation soon grew beyond his control, due to others with more Hitler-like personal ambitions.
Well, the show definitely is anti-fascist, and in an even handed way that has something for everyone. The lefties can identify with the artistic guy whose modern style is labeled “degenerate”, Christians can identify with suppression of the Bible in both Japanese and German controlled areas and also with the regular incineration of the terminally ill.
