From the article:

Student federation president Romeo Ahimakin said the yoga program was not canceled because of a complaint. Rather, the program was suspended while students were consulted “to make it better, more accessible and more inclusive to certain groups of people that feel left out in yoga-like spaces. ... We are trying to have those sessions done in a way in which students are aware of where the spiritual and cultural aspects come from, so that these sessions are done in a respectful manner.”

The day yoga needs a safe space is the day parody meets reality. That day has come.

Me talking:

I just watched the Safe Space South Park episode on another thread.

There was a video at our church talking about the various things going on. One of them was “Holy Yoga” where they read from Psalms and then meditate on them while doing the various poses.

Part of me is still wary of Yoga as a form of worship/spirtualness of pagan gods. But - I suppose if you replace the pagan thought with Psalms.....

Oh - and it was being led by a white woman!!! (Just kidding, I'm not THAT old fashioned.)

Thanks for the link to this thread! I’m sorry to say that I just had an “authentic” Mexican dinner. Believe it or not, this very topic came up with a friend, who said, “pretty soon we won’t be allowed to eat here, due to ‘cultural appropriation.’”
