While reading and commenting on stories at Breitbart, I ran into a disturbing occurrence of censorship with their linked, off-site discussion moderator, Disqus. Anyone have the 'shiznit' on this group/org?
Amen
Well that`s another clue in this puzzle because if I were a tin foil hatter, I`d swear that after his death, the establishment took them over. In my opinion, the place has changed, gone down hill.
Oh, certainly Andrew’s absence has made a fundamental change in his operation, but Disqus is user-driven.
OK, didn`t know that.
The tin fouild hatter is in reference to the assassination theories.
Business Insider is even worse. If you post too many conservative comments, they don’t just block your ID, they block comments from your IP address.
I`ve noticed.
Nomad, I understand the tinfoil hat reference. I’ve been accused of being one before. :-) I’m just letting you know that, as a moderator of Disqus comments on a few websites, I know that we are the ones who nix or allow comments, not Disqus guys.
“Business Insider is even worse. If you post too many conservative comments, they donât just block your ID, they block comments from your IP address.”
Yep. BI did that exact thing to me. Nothing offensive about my posts, just logical dismantling of whatever nonsense BI was writing about.
Now, if I REALLY want to post on BI, I simply use the Tor browser to sidestep the IP block. It’s hardly worth it though as VERY few people bother to comment on BI articles anyway, and besides, the idiots that run BI are simply cutting their own throats in terms of seriously reduced page clicks by eliminating the possibility of spirited debates, so why should I bother to help those fools make money.
And that’s pretty much the case with ALL sites that eliminate comments are nuke the ones they don’t like, which pretty much tells me these sites are more interested in fostering propaganda than making money, which nowadays includes a large number of the well known magazine-type sites.
Next time you log into Disqus go to your account. You’ll see your previous posts. They’ve deleted several of my comments, none of which were profane, nasty, or in any way extreme or encouraging violence, for instance. They were constructive contributions to the conversation but apparently the editorial department of Disqus Big Brother Inc. felt they should be removed. Meanwhile small talk, potshots, hypercritical personally directed insults fill the site. Tried to notify them but they didn’t respond. So I’ll just notify the sites I visit of their editorial overreach and say goodbye Disqus.
