It is starting to look like Peyton Manning may never step onto the field as a starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos again. Personally, I was on the fence with this line of thinking holding out hope Manning would somehow erase the last year and return to form. However, by moving to Brock Osweiler, it's becoming clear that coming back to Manning isn't likely.
An excellent insider piece on ESPN written by Mike Sando hammered this point home with several interviews from NFL executives and evaluators around the league, which paints a portrait of where John Elway's mindset is during this season.
Manning has been set up to succeed, not fail Pete Baron Five reasons Brock's Broncos are still top-five Kelly Fleming First, for the "win from now on" ethos Elway lives by, he has to commit to Osweiler now. Said one evaluator, "You have to commit to Osweiler. If you play him, you have to go with what he wants to do. Brock would have to really play bad for them to go back. He is a free agent at the end of the year. If he plays well enough, that could be an interesting situation. They can find out if he is a guy for the future. There is a lot going on there."

Dearest Peyton made a go of it didn’t he. What a prize he is. God speed into a happy future coaching big and coaching long. I hope physically that he heals and is made fit, very much. These guys sacrifice their well being for love of the game.
Oh. Okay then. The game I watched a few days ago only had the talking heads referring to the all time yardage record. Thanks.
I’m surprised Peyton came back after his neck surgery.
Prayers up for his recovery this season and go Broncos!
Take a seat and set your reservations for Canton.
Go out with class. Don’t become Brett Farve.
He beat it already.
I heard Vinny Testaverde might be available.
Yes it was a conspiracy by the NFL.
How many chances do you want the guy to have?
Manning was doing a great job for the Broncos - if he’s done, he can move into other areas with his head held high - no contest about the fact he will be in the Hall of Fame.
The revenge tour almost took a hit last week.
Brady has one lineman who has any experience. And he still wins.
It is crazy exciting.
Not a sports person, but the hubster is a sports maniac & I am always asking him,” Why don’t these guys retire while they are still on top?” I can’t say I am totally not into sports. Love the college team & am loyal to my husband’s teams. I am strangely fixated on the great athlete who keeps on playing despite their obvious decline. WHY????????? Even hub doesn’t have a good answer to that question.
Eli Manning has the best bragging rights of all: beat Tom Brady & the Patriots two times in Super Bowls. Eli = MVP of those Super Bowls.
Peyton is still the best QB ever to play the game. Eli is in the best top 10. Pretty amazing for brothers. And if Archie had been drafted by another team besides the Saints, he would be right up there with them in the list.
I don’t get it either. But I’m not a competitive person. My bother, who is a jock and competitive, keeps trying to explain the love of the game, competing, blah, blah, blah to me. To me it’s all about the benjamins. These guys can go out on top an still make a go-zillion dollars. Especially Peyton who could just do commercials ‘cause he is hysterically funny.
Tonight when we were discussing this he did mention one thing. His arch rival, Tom Brady, is still playing and is at the top of his game. That might be the partial motivator.
It wouldn’t make an iota of difference to me. I’d rather retire insanely wealthy and my body in semi-tact.
Exactly right about Archie. His wobbly passes were only because he was scrambling for his life most of the time.
What kind of wine would you like with your dinner?.....LOL!
I’m having a dark cabernet!
LOL!
Not a Sam Adams Ale?
Yes, I think he should retire right now - while he’s on a high note!
timing is everything
