A marine battery 24F, 40 watt solar panel, and 300 - 600 watt dc to ac power inverter can acquired cheaply, ie auto parts and Harbor Freight.
A flexible 15 watt solar panel is nice since it’s light and doesn’t shatter if dropped. Large deep cycle sealed lead acid battery can work to for smaller applications.
For the most part, you can forget about running most large applicances, well pumps and heaters on solar power systems, unless you have large kilowatt storage capacity costing ten thousand+.

I am in the middle (literally) of re-assembling a hobbyist system of roughly 10-15 times that capacity at our new residence. Even it has severe limitations. For example, it will run an 8,000 BTU portable air conditioner but it’s drawing current out of the batteries like Grand Coulee dam to do so. At the rate of about 100 amps @ 12V. Very adequate for things like lighting, most power tools and small appliances, though. But it is a good thing the.microwave doesn’t really run very long or it would be like the AC!
