I don't know Hovind from a hole in the ground. I don't know what his doctrinal commitments are, or (until you told me) that he is a young Earth creationist. As for his endorsement of Hillary for president, all I said was that I'd heard a rumor that he had given her one. But I emphasize, I said it was a rumor, the implication being that, without substantiation, I could not credit it, having no information about it. So I asked my correspondent of the time if he could confirm its veracity, if any. I didn't hear back from him; but you advise me that Pastor Hovind satirically endorsed her for President of Antarctica. (Sounds good to me!) That answers the matter, as far as I'm concerned.
I do not "have a dog" in the Young Earth/Old Earth Creation "fight." I imagine that peoples' religious beliefs answer to the leading of the Holy Spirit that they have received. And that's good enuf for me: Certainly I have no right to impose my judgments in matters regarding the spiritual relations of a person with God.
At the same time, I would like to be treated likewise. I do not want to hear that I'm going straight to Hell because I do not subscribe to the received doctrine of any particular religious confession....
Anyhoot, I am not "casting stones" against Pastor Hovind. From my perspective, he is fully entitled to believe in whatever the Holy Spirit has given him the light to see.
As do I. Only Christ shall judge me.
Thank you so much for writing, so_real! May God's blessings ever be with you and your dear ones.
