Franika Marshall, expecting twin girls in March, lost her 14-year-old son over the weekend just weeks after returning to a city she had left because of the gun violence.
"I'm numb," said Marshall, sitting on a dining room chair in her mother's home in the 5700 block of South Seeley Avenue on Sunday morning, hours after J-Quantae Riles was gunned down on a West Englewood sidewalk.
Surrounded by friends and family, she spoke with her eyes half-closed, tears streaming down her cheeks, her left hand never leaving her baby bump.

And his mama cries....
I’m guessing her husband, the boy’s father, is pretty upset too but was still at work when this interview transpired.
Let me use RAT logic, here.
She moved away to Virginia to try to get away from this violence.( she must have known something was up regarding her son...(hit?))
She came back to Chicago (no reason given).
Her son gets murdered less than a few weeks back.
The mom caused her son to be murdered.
Yes good questions. Was her son falling in with a bad crowd, which prompted her to move away in the first place? Then they move back, he reconnects with the gangs, and he pays the price? I bet there’s more to this story.
Proving that conservatives can be heartless too. What exactly did the woman do to be worth less than the dead cat? Is it that she is black or lives in Chicago or something else?
I saw what you did there!
What has changed since Elvis released that?
For that matter, what has changed since Peter Boyle’s bar rant in the movie “Joe”?
Heartless, as well as illiterate.
“rode” ?
. . something else,,,
lack of empathy.
Yeah, Virginia thanks her for going back. I am sure.
Because, in my case, the compassion has been sucked out of me. I just don’t care.
And why did you have to make it about her color????
Seemed one of the only obvious attributes.
Ok, so we are agreed that you are not compassionate and do not care about others.
Do you feel better now?
I would ask you the same question, because I am not one who attacked a dead boy or his mother. I forgot, what was their crime exactly?
She let him roam the streets on a Saturday night. ANd for those who ask what’s she supposed to do, keep him locked inside? Yes, but a father would probably be more effective.
Neither have I attacked a dead (or live) boy or his mother.
What are you talking about??
