My brother-in-law was diagnosed with diabetes 10 years ago. His doctor put him on meds and told him to watch what he ate. Cut the carbs almost completely, especially processed carbs. He lost 70 lbs., the doctor eventually dropped his meds and his blood work showed no more diabetes. He actually reversed the condition by eating a zero-to-low carb diet.

He still eats that way and has maintained his weight and has not needed medications since.

I started eating the same way this last year and have lost 45 lbs since June 1st. I eat three meals a day and snack. I just don't eat processed carbs at all and what little simple carbs I eat, I limit to less than 10 grams a day. My annual physical with my primary care physician a month ago went great. All of my blood work results were within normal limits and my doctor told me to keep eating the same way. It works.

We've been told for decades that eating too much fat causes us to get fat but that is not the case. Eating too many processed carbs that turn to glucose and then are converted and stored as fat if not burned off by daily activity within 24-48 hours after eating them, is what causes us to get fat.

Totally agree on the carbs...they are the enemy. The way I figure it, in the natural state, humans only had access to carbs for part of the year. When fruit and grains were available from harvest until used up. So that’s how I eat...I eat carbs from Sept though the holidays and then carb diet from new years until mid early summer.
