The idea behind his appearance on SNL was NOT to speak of issues and his way of handling them. It was instead meant to have those who watch the show, mostly young and mostly Left see him in a different light than has been portrayed by the Liberal Media.
His self mockery and evident sense of humor allows others to see the lie behind his being portrayed as some sort of monster. The criticism here of Trump because he was in their opinion “not funny” is as silly as what a NY Daily News columnist had to say. She hammered trump on his inability to dance, as if he was a professional.
There was a reason why so many demanded NBC cancel Trump and their fears were realized because Trump emerged as far more likable than others who had never seen him but only heard of him believed.
Larry David makes a good Bernie Sanders. Almost everything else about the show sucked so hard, I thought the entire planet might end up in Times Square.
We’ll see from polls if this had the desired effect. Still, I hope it is an exception for Trump rather than the rule.
Sometimes one does need to risk being viewed as a monster, when the alternative is to lie down as a doormat to something that is manifestly wrong. “Daddy you hate me!” but later to discover that Daddy knew something the child didn’t and actually kept the child from being harmed worse than an uncomfortable encounter.
