[W]hy [didn't] the missile didn’t lock on the plane.

I find it incredible that a passenger jet could evade an air to ground missile on approach, especially given that the "passengers were never told". That would have been one head snapping maneuver. Missiles can turn a lot faster than manned aircraft because missiles can withstand 20+ g's, humans cannot.

That’s my take. A psgr airplane dodging a missile would indeed be a head snapper.

I can see you never landed at crumbling Chicago O’Hare field with two rookies on the sticks. It’s equivalent to landing a KC-130 at Chu Lai airbase in ‘68 while under VC rocket fire.
