Why Liberals Identify with Criminals
American Thinker ^ | 31 Oct 2015 | Tom Trinko

Liberals hate cops, honest citizens with guns, and hard sentencing laws because liberals identify with criminals.

When visiting a Federal prison Obama summarized the view of liberals when he said:

“These are young people who made mistakes that aren’t that different than the mistakes I made and the mistakes that a lot of you guys made."

While the people in the prison he was talking about were really drug dealers and violent felons, Obama, was repeating the liberal lie that the prisons are full of folks who just smoked a joint and got caught.

Liberals are five times more likely to use marijuana and cocaine than conservatives. A natural consequence of drug use is fear of the police. While the U.S. has an overly soft policy towards drug users, users are nonetheless afraid of the consequence of getting caught breaking the law. This fosters in liberals an anti-cop mentality, since the police are the agents of society that enforce society’s laws against drug use.

Today’s liberals or progressives or whatever they’re supposed to be called, have a real problem with absolutes. A crime is a breach of an absolute that says ‘this behavior is not allowed’. To them it’s not a crime but something smaller, a ‘mistake’, a speed but on the way of just getting your life back on track, again. The problem gets worse when the absolute authority of God is introduced. Liberals want not authority higher than their own minds. It’s a trait common to all humanity, but liberals, in particular, have made it both doctrine and dogma.

“... Obama, was repeating the liberal lie that the prisons are full of folks who just smoked a joint and got caught.”

The fact that they robbed a convenience store at gunpoint to get the money to buy the pot doesn’t seem to matter.

Because they’re only slightly less moral than so-called Republicans.

It’s not so puzzling if you’ve ever been in a situation where the cops mistake themselves for God. If it’s happened to you, you’re far, far more likely to understand that some see themselves as paramilitary troopers who are very much above the law and abuse their authority wantonly, so there’s little point assuming that you’re dealing with a good cop at any point in time.

Here’s my story - do with it as you will: Long ago, I and a friend went to a concert in Hampton, Virginia, travelling from Dover, Delaware to get there. As you may know, radar detectors are illegal in Virginia, and my friend had one in his car. So we’re in the arena’s parking lot and a cop happens by and sees the detector on the dashboard. He tells us they’re illegal in Virginia and that we’ll have to get rid of it. We refuse. Cop busts out the driver’s side window and confiscates the detector and tells us we’re lucky he’s not taking us in. We drive back to Dover, in October, with no driver’s side window and it cost, IIRC, $300 to get it replaced. When you’ve experienced that, it’s easy to believe the worst all the time.

Although I hate to generalize (snicker), the average liberal is more than willing to give into temptation whether it's good for him (or her) or not. Conservatives are more likely to try and withhold.

Liberals don't see anything wrong with living down to their baser instincts. It's fun..nobody gets hurt...well, maybe people do get hurt, but so what? Life is short...give in.

It's not that conservatives don't give in to baser urges, they don't make apologies for them. They don't try to justify base urges with the phrase "everybody does it."

Which is why Clinton got away with his scandalous behavior. Liberals loved to see person with great power who was as morally corrupt as they were. Clinton's low character is the reason I finally broke with Dems. Sorry Dems/liberals, character does matter.

Former Proud Canadian ~ How is that transformation of America coming?

umgud ~ Thru Obama's eyes, pretty damned good.

EVERYTHING obama does either:

a) Weakens America/Americans
b) Distances America's allies
c) Strengthens America's enemies
d) Attacks Christianity
e) Serves Islam
f) Harms Israel
Or some combination of the above.
There are NO counter examples.

[[Why Liberals Identify with Criminals]]

It’s very simple to figure out why

Criminals covet and STEAL other people’s money

Liberals covet other people’s money, and so they STEAL other people’s money too

Birds of a feather

We hate brutality, bullying, and excessive force.
You need to learn to differentiage.

“Liberals hate cops, honest citizens with guns, and hard sentencing laws because liberals identify with criminals.”

Yet the police unions all support liberals. Maybe it’s time they change their priorities.

Your graphic says it all. And now people are going to vote for Hillary and get eight more years of Obama? Are they psychotic?

In every single incident involving black perpetrators and law enforcement in which Obama has interceded and opened his lying mouth before the justice system had run its course, he has been on the side of people who had broken the law and not the law enforcers.

And now his justice department is releasing 6,000 "nonviolent" offenders onto the streets among the populace to commit their crimes again. First stop is to register them to vote for the democRAT party before they forget who their daddy is.

It’s a question of “Trust”.

Liberals don’t trust other people because they don’t trust themselves.

I disagree with the article. It is much simpler; a matter of two different worldviews. Conservatives believe in individual responsibility and moral absolutes, and that a person largely creates their own opportunities and is responsible for their own failures, and if they commit a criminal act it is an avoidable, conscious decision. Liberals believe that outside forces, fate if you will, control both positive and negative outcomes. Thus if someone is wealthy, it is not through their own tireless efforts, skill, and sacrifice, but a matter of “luck” or “cheating”. Likewise, criminal behavior is viewed as just a “bad break”, or as the acceptable result of poverty (”what was he supposed to do, he was broke”).

Many liberals I have known have consistently made bad decisions and then blame others on the outcome. They don’t seem to comprehend cause and effect. I had a liberal neighbor who let her children goad her into buying them expensive designer clothes to the point that she was taking out equity in her house to pay off the credit cards. Wen I suggested that she had to stop doing this she looked at me like I was crazy.

Okay, I read your story. Is that enough to paint every cop as and wrong by default, and give the benefit of doubt to every criminal as I said in my posting?

Sorry. I do not see it as justification to treat every LEO (as some on this forum do) as a steroid injecting paramilitary trooper.

I don’t believe every person arrested is guilty by default. But far more often, when someone is arrested in someone else’s backyard at 0200 and they say they weren’t doing anything, my meter tends to peg out.

Cops are human, and like doctors, 50% of them have to graduate from cop school in the lower half of their class. Doesn’t make them bad, but just like there are good people and bad people, smart people and dumb people, there are good cops and bad cops, smart cops and dumb cops.

I think people who paint them as an adversary right off the bat are making a mistake. I think you have to have enough common sense to make judgements, and just using a blanket rule as many do is an invitation to an escalation of an otherwise harmless encounter.

Most of the time, even today, most cops are just trying to do their job.

On your point of the “civilization wide” aspect, I agree.

There are far, FAR too many parents today who, when presented with bad behavior by their offspring, are more likely to gear up for combat regardless of any factual information, and instead of questioning the behavior of their child, question the motives, judgement, and behavior of those who bring the matter to their attention.

And I agree it is seen at a wider societal level than ever before at all levels of bad behavior.
