Liberal politicians and criminals both compete to take your money.

Liberals are five times more likely to use marijuana and cocaine than conservatives. And meth. And crack. And skittles.

As Bastiat notes, most government action is merely legal plunder.

One does it with a gun in your back and the other does it wearing a suit and tie after passing gun control laws.

Lefties and Mafia thugs also seek to control unions.

More realistic basis for "liberals" love of criminals is the fact of social collapse; "There comes a time in the history of every people when they become so pathologically soft and tender that they actually side with those elements of their society that harms them; i.e. criminals." F. Nietzsche
Many conservatives rush to defend criminals and hate cops.

Liberals are mentally weak/ill. Criminals are mentally weak/ill.
Doesn’t seem too complicated.

"...Many conservatives rush to defend criminals and hate cops..." I would say it is far, FAR more prevalent on the Left than the Right, but here on FR, for some puzzling reason, they show up. I would say SOME conservatives (or at least they seem to want to identify themselves as such) defend criminals and hate cops.
I suspect those are the libertarian leaning ones, to a degree.

Silly me, I thought it was because they were both lazy, shiftless, worthless, good-fer-nothin’, no-accounts.

I think the problem is actually the one that is not included in the excerpt, but which the author does touch on later in the article.
Liberals do not want to take responsibility. In fact, any time someone does something bad, liberals want to blame the action on anything other than bad choices. Somehow, “society” caused the person to do bad things—they couldn’t help their actions any more than Pavlov’s dogs could help salivating at the sound of a bell. And so, to punish them for actions over which they had no control is terrible unfair.
Instead, society must be punished, and more and more dictatorial control must be placed on society to change it from one that induces criminal behavior to one in which everyone lives in a wonderful utopia where everyone has everything they need—food, shelter, phones, cars—and no one has to work. And when we achieve that utopia (which evil conservatives oppose), no one will ever commit crimes again.

I agree with you. I think the sympathy with the criminal element is a “Civilization Wide” problem part of our collapse if you please.

It’s more about both simply taking things from those who have it. Be it through insane taxes or by way of a mugging.

6,600 felons? How many illegals through the southern border? How many illegal felons walk and don't get deported? How many islamic immigrants? How many Syrian "refugees"?
How is that transformation of America coming?
