To be fair, I don't think your Army basic training expected you to be facing an enemy that would literally eat you alive if you were caught...
That's true......what was implied but not said, we were to shoot our weapons until all our ammo was spent then we had the choices of either throwing the weapon at the enemy and running away or beat ourselves to death so as not to be taken prisoner......... :)
