There’s a “right to bear arms” joke hiding here somewhere...

should have kept going, come out the other side, grabbed his tail and yanked hard. he could have pulled that bear right inside out

Great story to tell around hunting camp.
” then I shoved my arm down his throat, ripped out his tonsils, and made me a bow tie! “

Good guy but he wants to say it wasn’t the bear’s fault. Who the heck’s fault does he think it was? He didn’t try to kill the bear.

and pull him inside out ?

That actually makes perfect sense. Most prey try everything they can to get out of a bears’s grasp.
Shoving your whole fist and arm down his throat had to freak him out.
Moral of the story: do the unexpected.

shoving his arm down the animals throat.
Interesting, today I discussed this very act of self defense with a fellow softball player when we were talking about being attacked by a large dog........
There's another tactic involving large dogs but I wouldn't advise it against bears...........LOL!

A .44 or bigger on the hip costs less than a new arm.

Brian Williams claims to have coached Chase Dellwo on proper bear handling techniques. "in fact, I was responsible for Coach Paul Bryant earning the nickname 'Bear'," said the erstwhile news anchor.
