‘Hump Day’ event cancelled after students claim bringing a camel to campus was racist

Students at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota have cancelled an event to celebrate the end of the year after complaints that bringing a camel on campus could offend those of Middle Eastern cultures.
The “Hump Day” event, put on by the Residence Hall Association (RHA), was supposed to be “a petting zoo type of atmosphere” in which students could hang out and take photos with a live camel. According to Aaron Macke, the group’s advisor, the camel is owned by a local vendor and trained for special events.

Can somebody explain to me how camels became racist?Well, you see, I am an enlightened Liberal douche, and you are a scummy, unwashed person likely from irrelevant fly-over country, so I shall explain it to you.
I, the enlightened one, personally associate camels with the Middle East*, and I, the enlightened one, personally associate The Middle East with only one race of people**. Therefore, ANY reference to camels, even without any reference or inference to people of the Middle East Race, is automatically, and in all cases, cruel and mean-spirited towards that Race, and thus must be eradicated from the public eye. For Social Justice! In fact, since I am not in the Middle Eastern Race, this very post is racist!!!
* (despite camels existing as far east as Mongolia and Australia, and as far south as Sudan and Ethiopia)
** (despite there being Arabs, Persians, Kurds, Turks etc... just try mixing them up sometime and see how they feel about being lumped into one group)
