Also in Catholic school, the nuns told us that if we wore patent leather shoes, the boys could see up our dresses.
One of my classmates got caught, one time, lagging behind, as our class walked upstairs, so he could peer up the skirts of the girls. He got the steel-ruler-to-the-knuckles treatment, and after that, the boys ascended the stairs, first.
Interesting, he gave an after action report, it wasn’t the first time he had done this misdeed. He told of which girls would stand near the the handrail, for easy viewing, and which ones shied away, and walked closer to the center, of the stair case. It was a foretelling of the future; as we got older, you can guess which girls developed what kind of reputation!
