This is probably the most aggressive defense of the Second Amendment put forth by a serious presidential candidate since Reagan (who had a concealed permit himself).
I'm surprised this is not getting more attention.

I noticed that, but couldn’t find anything else on it. It needs to be widely promoted since I have heard people voice concerns about Trump’s positions on guns.
He seem very solid to me. Best gun policy I have seen from any candidate.

Cue interminable posts about how this is a trick. The typical FReeper cadre:
Do we need a federal permit to excersise the right to practice religion? So we want the federal government to have a list of everyone that has a carry permit? How about no permit necessary just keep it illegal for convicted fellons?
How'd I do? BTW - all valid questions?

I’m a member of the NRA, I love this...and yes, if the States would keep their records updated, it would make it easier for everyone...
Good job Trump!!!

Lots of states don't have carry permits or any government paperwork. They do ok.

Wow! His plan will scare the crap out of a several of my obama luvin' family members, but I'm seriously impressed.
The Constitution needs a "Reset" button and this plan should work well for the second amendment.
What else ya got, Mr. Trump?

You shouldnt be, gun rights have surged astronomically in the mind of independents. This is why no democrat is touching the issue, thus the media is dead silent on it. It just gives traction against democrats!

This is probably the most aggressive defense of the Second Amendment put forth by a serious presidential candidate since Reagan (who had a concealed permit himself). Reagan also carried, concealed, a large portion of the time he was president, whether in the White House or traveling, starting shortly after John Hinckley Jr. shot him. The .38 revolver (I don't know the maker) moved between a briefcase and a concealed holster, depending on his planned activities. I wish he had repealed some of our bad gun laws when he held office, and I am hoping that President Trump or President Cruz will take that long-overdue step.

That permit should be valid in all 50 states. A drivers license works in every state, so its common sense that a concealed carry permit should work in every state. If we can do that for driving which is a privilege, not a right then surely we can do that for concealed carry, which is a right, not a privilege." Damn right...but, we need to be careful how we get there.
