Pope Francis, "Jesus dying on the cross was a failure" [Revelation 13]

The greatly heralded Pope Francis, beneficiary of 24 hour news coverage from all news networks, has once again given us insight into his inner self in a sermon at St Patrick's Cathedral in New York City (Transcript of Sermon) . After starting the service, Pope Francis gave a heart warming shout-out to his "religion of peace", “Muslim brothers and sisters” when he said this:

“I would like to express two sentiments for my Muslim brothers and sisters: Firstly, my greetings as they celebrate the feast of sacrifice.”

The Pope clearly understands that for the last 1400 years, Islam has held that Christians and Jews are not brothers and sisters, but rather infidels worthy of death. Islam's god, Allah, states in Surah 19 of the Koran that he has no son. To say so is blasphemy against Allah and his prophet, Mohammed. However, despite what Muslims believe, the Chrislamic Pope Francis has demanded that the Christian nations in Europe and America receive all Muslim "al hijrah" immigrants, while the Vatican has the strictest immigration policy on earth. Perhaps the syncretic Pope believes that by paying obeisance to Islam he can bring the irrational religion under his cognitive dissonant sphere of influence? His later words in the sermon seem to dignify the Islamic view of Jesus' failure on the cross when he stated:

"And if at times our efforts and works seem to fail and not produce fruit, we need to remember that we are followers of Jesus Christ and his life, humanly speaking, ended in failure, the failure of the cross.

The Bible foretells in Revelation 13 that in the last days before the return of Jesus, an international religious figure will rise on the scene. The religious figure will look like a self-sacrificing, philanthropist. A real lover of man and the earth! He will appear harmless as a lamb, but when he speaks, he speaks like a ravenous dragon. He may feign faith in Christ, but in reality will direct everyone to worship another political figure who will be promoted to help solve the world's problems. Somehow this religious figure is so intertwined with politics and the economic system, he is able to promote a new worldwide economic order where all must have the the political figure's mark on their person in order to purchase, and to show loyalty to the "new world system". The Bible is also clear that whoever receives this "mark" will be damned to hell, with no hope of redemption.

I am not sure if Pope Francis IS this religious figure. If not, he is certainly a wonderful forerunner. Every time he opens his mouth, he continues his foray into the world political and economic orders and his consistent promotion of homosexuality, Allah as God of the Bible, and Marxism/Socialism betraying his "inner dragon"...

Key words: "humanly speaking." Yes, humanly speaking, the cross did look like an Epic Fail. See Luke 24:19-21. Look, I am no fan of the Pope, and of this Pope in particular. (Full disclosure: I am a confessional Lutheran pastor, LCMS.) But the brief excerpt quoted above is correct, and I have made the same point many times. It's called "the theology of the cross."

The problem with what the pope said is that he left it at that. Had he added that from God’s perspective it was the ultimate victory, you would have a point.

Christ’s DEATH was a failure. This is precisely why St. Paul calls it an absurdity for the Greeks and a stumbling block for the Jews.

WE Christians, who know it was not an absolute failure in every respect, see it in relation to the Resurrection. But it was a defeat for God and a victory for sin in a REAL sense, and for a brief time.

As another poster said, there is plenty of stupidity and blindness to be found in what the Pope says without twisting absolutely everything he says, and accusing him of blaspheming when he has done no such thing.

Notice the difference between your quote and what Francis said. Yours highlights the truth about the cross being the greatest victory. Francis’ quote emphasized the failure...and left it at that.

There is nothing wrong with calling Christ’s death a “failure.” I don’t think the Pope called the Resurrection a “failure.”

You don't explain your first sentence adequately; it just ends without satisfactorily explaining why you said it.

Has anyone accused Francis of calling Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead a "failure". If not, why do you deflect from what he DID say?

Therein lies the problem. Francis failed to add the part about the Resurrection being the ultimate victory. That is a crucial ommission.

No Christian would identify in any way with that statement by the Pope Francis.....further any who would attempt at tweaking or reframing what he said to something they could swallow is not on the side of Christ.

The cross was a glorious victory for us because Jesus took our place, bearing our sin on the cross. He paid the price for our redemption. On the cross He paid it all!... (Rev. 22:17).

In other words, because the Pope is a Bad Man, every syllable and every sentence out of his mouth, no matter what it is, is blasphemy. If he recites the Nicene Creed, every word of it is blasphemy.

I think this is the worst Pope in 300 years, but anyone who insists that this particular statement was blasphemous is just being hysterical.

The pope should have said that many of Christ’s followers, as well as His enemies, must have thought initially that His death on the cross was a failure.

He often says things in a way that at first appear outrageous, but are doctrinally sound on further analysis. The trouble is, we shouldn’t have to write volumes to “explain” what the Pope is saying.

I truly believe that catholics need to think and pray about where Francis is leading the masses.....IMO if they do not leave the church soon what is coming from this Pope and the Vatican leadership will engulf them and they won’t be able to leave.... For some it’s already to late.
