The golden rule is fine. The application of it to justify an immoral invasion is not so fine. Hey he’s talking about God oh wait he quoting Merton
Beginning to wish he was on Merton’s island right now
When I was in HS, some of the Mercy sisters were quite fond of Merton. Merton believed in “all” faiths if I recall.
Now he is mentioning the family. Perfect op to mention ABORTION!
Looks like 4 of the 6 Catholic justices on the Supreme Court decided not to show up.
So he plays this right. He doesn’t have to pound the pulpit and say that marriage is between one man and one woman. HE speaks of the importance of the family... and EVERYONE knows what he is saying....
[I read that he speaks 17 languages.]
So he can spread, more broadly, the gospel of Marxism.
Merton is great as I recall. However he is the pope he need to make his own quotes. I hope he mentions the holocaust of abortion occuring here
Did he say the word?
More babies will die during this damn speech than have been executed in this country in the last 5 years.
Did he say the word?
He barks at us as if we didn’t save the world in the last century.
More talk from someone who pontificates using other people’s money. Just another leftist.
“Respect for life at all stages.” “Fundamental relationships.” Dignity of the human person.” “Golden Rule - every stage.” Good stuff!!!
I don’t disagree with you, and I understand what you’re saying. I would say this though... sometimes we need to remember that this life here that God has given us is about more than money.
Embarassed to be Catholic.
Absolutely disgusted with the Holy Father and his willful forgetfulness regarding the unborn.
He spoke of OUR redistributing OUR wealth when the Vatican is sitting on hundreds of billions, of course, the DO have a lot lawsuits of pedophilia by some of their priests to settle.
If you think of how the pharisees probably reacted to Christ telling them the parable of the good Samaritan. They rejected what he said. How many of us would be different than they were if Christ told us a similar parable today? Who knows....
Good point.
I’m stunned—but CNN is making some good points on this speech. They are picking out the nuances, and how he “knitted” the topics together.
I was hardcore fox news, but have been on CNN since the fox debate. Honestly, its been a nice change. I don’t agree with everything they say by any stretch... but at least I’m not listening to GOPe manipulation.
I’m afraid I have to agree. I would have liked less Dorothy Day and more Little Sisters of the Poor. I understand about being polite there in Congress, but my God over 50 million babies have been butchered in this country! Polite be damned! I am contemplating a hiatus from the Church until a new Pope is named.
Boehner is crying again.
what the heck? Why is he crying over the Pope?
