I can see a situation where the teacher was merely telling her young charges the origins of words for left handedness and the treatment of such people in bye gone eras. The kid runs home to her burka clad mom and spills the story of evil lefties. Mom runs with the story to embarrass the infidel and secure a few shekels in the ensuing lawsuit.

This is just one possible scenario..
