...and of course being right handed is dexter, given our standard of education I doubt many know this.
I had a witch of a kindergarten teacher who tried to get me to write with my right hand only, not because I favored using my left, but because I would use both hands to write. It drove her nuts.
Correct, that is actually the origin of the word.
Left Hands Matter!
Im guessing that ambidextrous writers might develop more brain activity..
the teacher likely didnt want any more competition than they already had
I guess pre-K teachers never took Latin.
Well I do know that it was big in Catholic parochial schools (which I attended for 10 years in the 50s and 60s))that I even heard mentioned of its current existence when I was a kid. The nuns would attempt to correct the ‘mistake’ or possibly ‘demonic interference’. As I don’t have any lefties in my family or friends so I don’t know of the extent.
Not the bible per se. But definitely a catholic school thing

I demand you change it back or I'll report you to a mod!
My first grade teacher told me that “stupid people were left handed.”
Way to make a positive influence on someones life Mrs Kerr.
Watch it with the redhead cracks there, sassenach!

Why anyone who isn’t the poorest of the poor sends their children to public schools is beyond me.

Had a lot of trouble with consistent photo hosting.
Besides, I thought I’d become enigmatic for a while.
I doubt that she'd want it in shekels. That's jooo money.
I have heard that on average, left handed people die 6 years earlier than right handed people but I’ve always wondered how they would know that. I’m a left handed female. We’re very rare (also special and precious and wonderful). I used to be sort of ambidextrous but now my right side is just there to keep me from falling over. I don’t know my left from my right and unless I can look down at my hands cannot tell you which is which. i.e., unlike most people I have to think about it. I came into the southern parochial schools just after it had been told to them NOT to try to change me. My grandmother very gently encouraged me to be right handed but it didn’t work. But although I was allowed to use my left hand, I had to learn to write with a fountain pen and hold it and position my paper as if I were right handed. As a result, I had a royal blue stain on my left index finger most of my childhood. I’ve been told that for a female to be left handed, my mother must have had too much testosterone in her system. I’m not sure what that means. I’ve also been told that I was one half of mirror twins but my sister died before birth and was absorbed. That’s actually sort of cool and I plan to meet her in heaven. My granddaughter who is not biologically related to me is also left handed which is also cool and what are the odds of that? I love being left handed.
So THAT explains her problem.
