Need help with a Surface 3 Table (connect to TV)

My brother just acquired a MS Surface 3 tablet. He wanted to know how to connect it to a TV and "mirror" the table image on to the TV (not wireless but with wires).

Any advice?

You need an adapter from Mini-Display Port to HDMI and an HDMI cable. $10-20 in any decent computer store.

When you get it wired up select your HDMI port as input on the TV. Next, on the Surface press F7 and select your external monitor display mode: Duplicate, Extend or External only. Duplicate puts the same display on the Surface screen and the TV, Extend doubles the size of your desktop and external only turns off your Surface display.

Enjoy!

usb3 or usb3-c
there is a new usb port replacing all other wires including the power wire, so if you have other ports its likely a usb 3.0 old school. I’m not aware of any TVs with the new port but its likely the surface 3 has widi, so an adapter for your tv to go wireless to the display may be a better option. Part of the reason for W10 is convergence. W10 merges tablet and computer. In 2017 computer and phone merge. So your phone will be your computer, how you interact will depend on where you are. The cloudification of your data will let you have seamless access. Lastly G5 vs G4 cell phones promise as fast as wired/optic data though put, with auto scaling, meaning the last mile issue the telecoms/cable have been using to rape you for 30 years will be gone.
