GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump is a lifetime member of the NRA and a concealed carry permit holder who believes the advantages an armed citizenry provides to America are so evident as to be beyond debate.
In a recent interview with Ammoland, Trump said:
I am a Life Member of the NRA and am proud of their service in protecting our right to keep and bear arms. The NRAs efforts to stop dangerous, gun-banning legislation and regulation is invaluable. The media focus on those efforts overshadows the great work the NRA does on behalf of safety and conservation.
He went on to talk about this permit to carry in New York and said, I know firsthand the challenges law-abiding citizens have in exercising their Second Amendment rights.
Trump cited figures showing how concealed carry impacts crime and focused on howright to carry statesenjoy a lower violent crime and a lower murder rate than other parts of the country...
Ammoland asked Trump about a statement he made 15 years ago regarding assault weapons, trying to ascertain where Trump stands on the ongoing opposition to AR-15s from people like Senator Dianna Feinstein (D-CA). Trump responded by saying he believes the lefts targeted assault on AR-15s is really just an extension of the lefts usual habit of going after whatever it is that Americans love at a given moment.
Because of this, he said they focus on things that are non-essentiallike grips, magazines, etc.
Here are Trumps exact words:
You mention that the media describes the AR-15 as an assault rifle, which is one example of the many distortions they use to sell their agenda. However, the AR-15 does not fall under this category. Gun-banners are unfortunately preoccupied with the AR-15, magazine capacity, grips, and other aesthetics, precisely because of its popularity.

It’s life member, not lifetime member. A supporter of the nra would know that.
Good Lord, I would hope he is packing! Only dummies don’t these days.

I'm working on my endowment membership personally.
I stand corrected. Thanks.
Go trump!
Go Trump!
Are you saying the author of the article is perhaps not a member of the NRA, or that Trump is perhaps not a lifetime member of the NRA?
Whoops! Supporter, not member, in the previous post.

LOL! You got it!
I myself am a proud Trumpswab - the derogatory term used by the Left and GOP-ers to diss Trump supporters.
Modelled on the term "rumpswab", it's a more genteel version of the coarser "arsewipe".
My re-interpretation and re-direction of the insult is "Trump" + "swab" or "swabbie". A "swabbie" or "swab" is a low-level seaman in the British navy, or on a pirate ship.
The Dread Pirate Trump has run up the Jolly Roger, and is sailing the political seas, taking no prisoners. It's our duty as his "swabs" to make sure there are no survivors. :)
Everything I learn about this man makes me like him even more.
ARRRR!!!!
In what state/states is Trump a permit holder?
I read a long time ago that he was one of the few people issued a permit to carry in New York City. I believe Howard Stern is another such permit holder. It’s a pretty elite club from what I understand. I don’t know about any other places where he might be licensed to carry and he has been disinclined to talk about it in the past which is perfectly reasonable. It’s also perfectly reasonable that he has decided to start talking about it now I suppose. Pretty brilliant actually IMHO.
You might be surprised by this, but obtaining a concealed carry permit in the upsate counties is fairly routine, other than than the long wait while the state troopers run a background check (which in this day and age should take a few minutes instead of months). Obtaining a concealed carry permit in NYC and the adjoining counties, on the other hand, is nearly impossible unless you can show a specific threat.

In 1950's "Treasure Island," Robert Newton was the first movie pirate to "Talk Like a Pirate," as we traditionally think of them today. In particular, it was he who added the now-classic "arr" (not "argh"!) to pirate argot. In honor of International Talk Like a Pirate Day, here is a scene from the 1954 Australian-made sequel to the film, also starring Robert Newton (who starred in the subsequent Aussie TV series of the same name as well as 1952's "Blackbeard the Pirate").
