42 of the 50 states have adopted the Common Core standards. There aren't too many alternatives if this guy wants to keep his kid in a public school that his taxes pay for.

Is being a good parent WORTH not giving your kids a good education?? My parents made sacrifices to send us to Catholic schools, including driving 45 minutes each way, sometimes 2 or even 3 times a day!!

I think that was the point; Mr. Hermann shouldn’t even CONSIDER keeping his kid in a public school. Yup; he’ll get screwed on the tax issue. All parents who care enough about their kids to send them to private schools, or home school them, know they have to “eat it” when it comes to taxes. But they do it because they want the best for them in the future.
