I thought Lagano was going to be the bad guy in this.

ALLADEGA. Ala. — Kevin Harvick denied triggering a last-lap wreck Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway to ensure his advancing into the next round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

After one restart was aborted because of a crash before the leaders got to the start-finish line, Harvick, in 10th, was in jeopardy of falling out of the Chase as his motor was about to blow prior to the one attempt to have a green-white-checkered finish.

What about the competition rule that was strengthened after Clint Bowyer spun out at Richmond two years ago?

Didn't Harvick have an obligation to be competitive? If he knew that his engine was blown and he couldn't go more than 50mph, shouldn't he have known he couldn't be competitive and should have pulled out instead of wreck the field to protect his position?
