The Neandertal genome survives mostly strongly in modern Europeans (and Americans of Euro descent), and is also found in Asians. This article is mostly about the underlying Denisovan roots of Neandertal.

The answer to that might be that these Denisovan people were pushed east by one or more of the glaciations and that Neanderthals were likewise pushed east by another???

European folk do—I got my dna tested at 23andme and it came back 2.8% Neanderthal.
