Listening and it sounds like he got his feelings hurt because of speech being interrupted. That has really twisted him up

Yeah, the "rant" is really about his speech being cut off by music because he went over his time. An ego thing. No longer important enough to be allowed to finish his speech. He got the audio version of the hook to quit hogging the stage.

I agree, his tantrum is mostly over hurt feelings and he didn’t get the star treatment that he thinks he deserves.
