The most recent Census Bureau data reveals that of the $3.2 trillion in total expenditures by state and local governments in 2012, public education accounted for the highest percent at nearly 28 percent,
California is home to what appears to be the most wasteful K-12 spenders. ... 11 of Californias 16 most-populated cities score in the bottom 25 of U.S. cities on standard tests.
The worst performing cities have in common the very high percentages of households where English is not spoken as a first language. Research shows that the language barrier can have a disastrous effect on learning outcomes.
California, with the largest number of students, tops the English Learners category at 1,413,549. This constitutes about 22.7 percent of the total enrollment in state public schools. A total of 2,685,793 students speak a language other than English in their homes, a number that represents about 43.1 percent of the states public school enrollment, with 87 percent Spanish speakers.
The 73 percent majority of English learners are enrolled in the elementary kindergarten through grade six. About 27 percent are enrolled in the secondary grades, seven through twelve.
This seems to indicate that SAT scores will continue to decline as more students who do not speak English in the home pass through high school.
Former President George W. Bushs No Child Left Behind legislation implemented in the 2000s amounted to an attempt to put a stop to unproductive spending by failing school districts. The measure required schools to meet certain performance criteria or risk being taken over or shut down, among other sanctions.
Although the rapid descent of SAT scores slowed during the Bush years, the Obama administration issued waivers and refused to enforce the No Child penalties. Since his inauguration, SAT scores have plummeted.

We need to spend mo money, then kids will magically get better scores, and problem will be solved. / liberal solution.
It is the test’s fault. It must be racist or sexist or homophobic or xenophobic or micro one of the above or something similar. Has to be. The fault cannot possibly be the governments;, the educators’, the parents’ or the students’ fault. It is the test’s fault. AND the money. If they had $1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000..... more, as they are of course entitled to, then the scores would increase at least 1 or 2 percent.
Nope .. not kidding.
You got me curious. If it ain't plant sweat, where does dew come from???
Just kidding - learned about dew point and other such things going to school in '50s and '60s when they taught a bit more truth and facts.
Exactly .. so when the children get to college; and just happen to run into a Biology teacher who believes in teaching the truth .. I couldn’t help but wonder what that teacher might think about a plant sweating.
Of course, if they a younger biology teacher, then they will know they have a thoroughly indoctrinated student who they can further mislead.
SCARY ..!!!!
My philosophy is this: If you have children yourself, or you have family with young school-age children - do them a favor and start them on Rush Limbaugh’s books (to Americanize) .. plus books with the correct biological/ climate data; I recommend Christopher Horner.
Oh yeah, the other thing is using Kraft’s Asian Sesame Dressing instead of the honey/Mustard.
I still add the grated cheese and lettuce.
AWESOME ..!!!
