Haven't done one for a while and with all that is going on I though it would be a good idea to do a Weekly Prepper Thread, for posting tips, new products, good prep buys etc.....
There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger.
Underestimation can be fatal.
First I got a request for a recommendation for a good night vision gear.
Second request was for a good solar generator set-p.
Preppers’ PING!
I would also like to ask the question it seems that lately I have once again angered a number of fellow FReepers with these prepping threads. Suggestion? To many post? Just do a once a week/month thread??
Hiding from night vision and IR capability should be the first thing that comes to mind.
Quasi related: I just finished a really good fiction series on surviving an EMP, written by A. American
have you all read that?
I don’t think you post too much. I thin there were so many people yelling that they sky was falling this week attracted people who have no concept of what will really happen when it falls.
I think I responded to one of those threads with a comment that it might be bad, but its not THAT bad...yet.
There is a lot of crap posted these days, yours are some of the few that I read without exception. If there are folks out there that cannot think for themselves...too bad for them.
I enjoy them tremendously, I can’t recall if in your lists you mention the following:
When ‘bugging in’ it makes sense to have multi-packs of socks, t-shirts and underwear tucked away in your supplies. Long term those things wear out on a regular basis and short term they would allow you to not have the need of doing laundry so often or possibly until the power and ‘services’ are restored.
Preparing for disaster on a tight budget

Ignore them.
Some people aren’t happy unless they’re raining on someone’s parade.
Nobody is forcing anyone on FR to read any threads.
If they’re not interested, they can do what I do when they see something they aren’t interested in.
They can do the mature thing and scroll past it and not read it or comment on it instead of trying to control whatever anyone else is doing that they don’t approve of.
I think the last book by JW Rawles had a paragraph or two about that. The one up north...
No one is forcing a FReeper to open your thread.
I would like some suggestions for homemade denture adhesive.
Kart, you’re providing valuable information.
Carry on, and ignore the complainers. Don’t reply to them. Drop them if they are on your list.
No one is *making* them read your threads.
Some people aren’t happy unless they can find something to b**** about.
In all honesty, I don't foresee surviving the zombie apocalypse. And I wouldn't want to, knowing that I'm heading somewhere better anyway.
My goal in prepping is to be able to manage a rough time where things are in short supply for a while with a minimum of inconvenience.
I basically prep for every winter anyway since we live in snow country AKA NYS and I HATE dragging stuff beyond the necessities in through the now and slop in the cold.
The more I have at home that enables me to kick back and watch the snow and laugh at all the people panic buying and stripping the shelves bare, the better I like it.
Just don't ping the whiners.
I'm not a newbie here....

Kart, I have no problem with the number of threads. Each Prepper has to determine the amount, type etc. of how he wants to prep. You and everyone on this thread can give suggestions, but once it gets into denigrating how we go about that procedure it is over the line. I have used your manual to prep and think I have done a good job, but don't tell me how to invest my extra finances.
I’ve been reading a prepper forum multiple times a day for over a decade and a half. I have no problem with frequent pings. I just today made a trip to Costco and added a few more canned goods to my spare bedroom turned pantry. I figure smart people learn from what happened in Argentina and Venezuela in recent history, as well as from the pictures of food lines during the Great Depression. But then my grandmother had a garden and a root cellar, and as was explained to me as a child- food had to be stored for the winter months when one couldn’t get to the grocery store.
Good to see you around.

Good night vision gear ain’t cheap. But ok night vision gear is fairly reasonable. I have a Bushnell unit put back for a dark night. Don’t love it, don’t hate it.

I find your prepper threads very interesting and useful.
Adhesives are cheap depending on what you get... Don't get the fancy stuff. Get the stuff based on seaweed. Get lots. It will never get cheaper, even if there isn't a SHTF event. You wind up saving money.
