I know some on FR have a bias against Pit Bulls, but they are the nicest animals on Earth, IMO.
Also I will probably get banned for stating this, but the crazy liberal Huffington Post should be congratulated for their advocacy of pit bulls.
I am a Trump/Cruz leaning conservative, but don't understand the hatred against this breed.
Well said Malone.
Chow Chows are by far probably one of the most aggressive breed there is. However, because of their cost, many people are not familiar with them. Plus the look like a big cute fluff ball. They do not call them the Chinese lion dog for no reason.
Three other breeds with aggressive tendencies are Akita’s(bred to hunt bears in Japan), Shar Pei’s(Chinese guard dog) and Cane Corso(Italian Guard Dog). All these breed tend to be very expensive and therefore not well known. They all can be very dangerous if not kept contained.
My pitt grand dog has been staying with us for 3 weeks. He is a physical and mental specimen. So fun to watch. He and our lab are best friends and play all day. ( Actually they are asleep right now) Our dog is definitely the dominant dog. Of course, since she is a female. But... I know that he could take her down in a second if that is what he wanted. That is where pitts get a bad rap. They have the ability and some people get them for that reason and raise them to fight.
Some areas of the country have breed specific laws governing Pittbulls. Also, many "breeders" are first timers. They breed brother to sister or otherwise taint the gene pool. Such amateurish breeding accentuates the faults. Hip dysplasia. Over aggressiveness. Other abnormalities surface.
And many of these owners and "breeders" should themselves, never be allowed to propagate.
William the Conqueror with General Patton |
I am sure he/she is to you. However, how does the animal react to strangers like the UPS man, the postman, or the teenage girl that he has never met?
I had a Labrador Retriever that started being aggressive at about six months of age. He was a beautiful animal. He was smart and very good on leash. By the time he was 2 years old, he was growling at the 9 year old girl next door and he tried to kill our cat. We took him to the local shelter. They eventually put him to sleep after he tried to bite two different people. They could not believe we had kept that dog for two years. I loved that dog. However, he was not right. He had a screw loose. I could not trust him around my family.
Since that time I have bred hundreds of Beagles and never had an aggressive dog. If I had one, I would have chosen to neuter or spay the animal so this characteristic could not be repeated. Unfortunately, this is the characteristic that many Pit Bull breeders have chosen to emulate.
Not William
“Willy”
That’s George C. Scott, not Patton. Also known as Gen. Buck Turgidson.
Well my pit is a rescue, who had been spaded. I guess they let her go because she was not a fighter but a lover.
She is the joy of my life
Did you say “spaded”?
My son and I rescued a pocket pittie who was abused to the point of a deformed leg and probably had a future as a bait dog had it not been for the intervention of the mail carrier who managed to rescue the little guy and turn him over to a local pit rescue group. We fostered and after a day or so saw what a well behaved, extremely loving dog that he is so we just paid his fee and adopted him. Such a great breed, I’m won over.
So, what? You were having a boring day and decided to chum the sharks?
I don’t understand the point of your post.
I’ve stated on here before (and gotten nasty responses) my dislike for dogs in general; I must say I think ‘pit bulls’ really Staffordshire terriers, are some of the ugliest dogs I have ever seen. It’s ok if you like them, more power to you, but I am just not a dog guy.
Never
God bless you.
I have the best of both worlds...
Lol
DBO publishes false information and refuses to correct it when given actually evidence
.
Going to DBO for info on ‘pitbulls’,
is like going to Rolling Stone to form your opinion of Trump.
