The woman, 70, was hoisted in a large yellow net by FDNY paramedics from her Fifth Avenue home and rushed to St. Lukes Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
Firemen came down and measured the elevator door, the building doorman said. She would not have been able to get out of the door.

You really gotta wonder how someone can get that big...and how they can stand it.
And these guys are lucky. They won’t have to take care of her for twelve hours in the ER.

Had to do one of these few years ago - guy weighed 850 lbs
Had to cut hole in side of house to get him out
Too big for ambulance - strapped him to mattress on flat bed tow truck

Well, we know the plumbing in that apartment building was robust!
Her enablers, those who allowed and assisted in her condition should be arrested...there is no excuse whatsoever for that. YOU KNOW THAT SHE WASN’T RUNNING DOWN TO THE SUPERMARKET FOR HER LATEST FIX............PATHETIC

I was surprised by that, too-people weighing 500 pounds or more aren’t likely to live much past 50-if they even make it to that-everything short circuits and does them in...
It is nothing to see an 80-90 year old running their business and doing physical work here-but not one of those people are anything that approaches overweight.
I can’t imagine allowing/enabling a family member, child or adult to get into that condition-it is abuse, in my opinion.
