Not going to happen. Cruz should just withdraw and try and be the gadfly in the Senate.
To: conservativejoy
If it comes down Trump or Cruz in the primary, then Trump will support Cruz in the general.

If this article isn’t a MUST READ then no such entity actually exists on FR.
Bravo. Nice post.

In the interest of future generations, then the decision must be for that candidate who most understands and reveres the ideas underlying the United States Constitution’s protections for liberty.

Thanks. It is an intriguing dilemma.

A Trump/Cruz death match
It ain't NEVER gonna happen ...
argueably the two smartest guys in the race (with similar views)
are NOT going to be drawn into a Karl-Rove-designed "political battle of Cannae" ...

If anything .... after Dr. Ben Carson drops-out after a debate disaster ...
and Yeb Bush is still flailing away in the polls ...
and John "Cry Me A River" Kasich leads the Yebster ...
then Yeb and Marco both endorse Kasisch ...

LOL! It’s half a year away!
Extraterrestrials could land and cast enough votes to determine the outcome!
Idiot Allahpundit misses the REAL question, of course: what deal will the GOPe be able to swing with the voters’ choice?
Neither Cruz nor Trump will be their pushover- but ANY candidate who makes a deal that the GOPe will accept would become unelectable.
The GOPe may have to form a new party in 2016.

Or the GOPe could just acknowledge they are Democrats.

Could very well be a brokered convention with Trump/Cruz in one camp and Bush/Rubio/Walker in the other.

Gosh, that would bad news, like having to choose between favorite flavors of ice cream. Even lactose-intolerant people want ice cream.

Does anyone really believe Trump would back down from the biggest job challenge in his life, the biggest in anyone’s life, the job of being Chief Executive Officer of the USA?
Not likely.

Coming down to Cruz and Trump may be the GOP's nightmare, but it's my dream come true. The ideal would be both winding up as 1st and 2nd position on the GOP slate for the following reasons:
Cruz has the resume, commitment, intelligence and courage that all true conservatives have been waiting for.
But Cruz is not the populist street fighter required to inspire a mass turnout of popular support and beat the media and the regime of political correctness it uses to repress all opposition to its leftwing anti-American agenda. Trump has demonstrated that he is.

One reason that Trump is popular is because he thumbs his nose at the rule that the GOP has to be nice.
Does anyone think BO is being nice when he refers to free market economics as "Republican economic theory which doesn't work" or accuses doctors of ordering unneeded tests or surgery because it will make them more income?
Yeah, I know all the sayings about you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, but a rotting corpse or a steaming pile of dung also draws more maggots than does a rose bush.
I, for one, am sick and tired of always offering the equivalent of rose bushes to the left's endless parade of dung piles.

I think this is the GOPe nightmare because it almost assures that they will run together.
