I thought you had to pay to use AM?

There aren’t a lot of people motivated enough to *pay money* to sign someone up just to mess with them. If I were asking questions, I’d also have to ask my SO how this ‘someone’ got a hold of their credit card info... including that little security number on the back. And how would this ‘stranger who used my email’ happen to know that the files would be leaked to ‘get me’ later?

No. There’s too much here for most people on this list to be victims.

AM makes money by selling message credits to male users. Females are free. AM also uses fictitious users called "Ashley's Angels" to communicate with lonely male users who don't get a real response in order to keep them coming back. They also frown on using actual email addresses or phone numbers within their messaging system, to prevent people from communicating outside their system.

I was referring to the hackers themselves, inserting names and data into the directories so that it shows up on the searches that are coming.

Just having your name and email on the list is enough for a kneejerk reaction during election time, think about the headlines if someone like Todd Palin showed up on the list when Sarah was running.
