Nickles have very little value in any condition.

Worn silver will exchange smoothly because everyone knows it is real. There are very few to whom the wear will matter, since no one will be intending to do anything but spend it anyway.

1942 - 1945 Silver Jefferson Nickel Value

They are very easy to identify. They were minted that way to be easily pulled after the war. Nickel was in short supply, hence the silver content. Americans were not go to have any of it, after having their gold confiscated. The silver nickels rapidly disappeared from circulation before the mint could melt them down.
