Internet access has a habit of coming with a landline contract from your ISP.Regardless of who you go with.
The Major National provider of Landlines and Exchanges now has a Cellphone/Landline single contract.
If you are on their network as an Internet user the National Network of WiFi hot spots is free to use.
Getting away without a land line is nearly impossible.

Here, the cable company I subscribe to offers a “bundle” of landline, internet and cell phone.
I don’t need the landline. Period. And I loathe the cable company I’m with, but they are the only game in town. In Tucson AZ, it was Cox unless you lived in the county, and then you could choose anyone. But Cox had a monopoly in the city limits.
