I’m working on a Web Development project for a non-profit so what wasn’t taken up with fambly and fronds was taken up with that.

I’m going to do a small vocabulary lesson and see if it can help actually pinpoint what your problem is with the (I assume) wireless network.

1) A router takes packets that it receives and sends them somewhere else. Routers don’t recognize devices, but they can be programmed to ignore URLs.
2) An Access Point takes a Wireless signal and connects it to the network. It may have some routing functions built in, but its primary purpose is to connect wireless devices. If you’re having problems connecting, it’s probably with your access point (WAP for Wireless Access Point).

So, your cable company may have given you a single device that will do both, but you’re having probelms with the access point.

Some troubleshooting questions.

1) Does your Kindle see the ID of your WAP? (Sometimes it will be called the SSID.)
2) If it does, does it ask for authentication information of more than password?
3) If it doesn’t, does it give you an “advanced” button?
4) If it gives you the authentication options (either on the main screen or through an advanced button) do you have a cheat-sheet from your ISP to tell you how to set them?

What I suspect is that your Kindle is using some default authentication protocal and it doesn’t match your WAP. If you share who your ISP is I’ll see if Google can help us set the Kindle to use the correct authentication.

I have to leave to take the truck in for the diagnostic soon, but when I get back, I will gather up my Kindle and go through it step by step.

I didn’t seem to have any trouble with the Nook, but that’s not what I do my reading on. And I HAVE to read at night. It helps to relax my mind.

So I should be back in about 45-55 minutes, as I will be walking home.

Just got a call from Jerry at the Muffler Shop. It IS the fuel pressure regulator. I am going back to get it, now.

FYI:

I copied and printed that post so I can refer to it. My brain is fried by the day, so I will check it with my Kindle in the morning.

Thanks!
