"No one can assure me that my software will work, I'm sitting it out." Software written for Win 7 or 8 will work. I haven't had any compatibility issues with it. Even with Windows 7 drivers.

On a gut level it seems to be quicker than 7 - Open Office went on smoothly and works fine.

Working GREAT for me since about 8 this morning. Edge is fast!

Me either. My next desktop will be a Max to go along with my macbook. They have their annoyances, but they’re not committed to reinventing themselves (and you) every 2-5 years.

FORCED updates. No thanks. I think Win7 is going to be the last version of Windows I own.
There are LOTS of workarounds to stop that. Blacklisting the microsoft website in your anti-malware software is one of many.

There are changes coming for web security pushed by credit card companies that will go into effect next year. Older browsers will work, unless they access a site with the new security standards, such as every ecommerce site. People will need to upgrade their web browser.

RE: Microsoft donates to planned parenthood
Can you tell me which major computer company doesn’t?

I’ve been running it all day too. Working great for me as well. I like it. It’s fast, for one thing. Much faster.
I also like the layout, and the graphics. It’s clean.
No complaints.

So whats the REAL reason for skipping Windows 9? Maybe they didn't skip it. Maybe they didn't like it and branched off of 8 into a different direction. 9 could be an internal release that never made it to the public.

The best thing about Windows 10: it's a lot easier to transition to if you're used to Windows 7, Vista or XP. The big problem with Windows 8 and 8.1 is that unless you do a lot of fiddling around with the OS or install a third-party program like
Classic Shell, you have to deal with that
Modern tiled-element interface--an interface that frustrates older Windows users to no end.
Yes, Windows 10 does incorporate a lot of the Modern tiled interface, but does it in a way that was far less obtrusive to most Windows users.

That makes sense. I vaguely recall a year-old theory that it was a marketing ploy to try to confuse OS X with Win 10.

Thank you Microsoft, may I have another?
