Chris Weinke was saddled with a sucky pro team. While the team record was horrible, Weinke did score an impressive number of rushing touchdowns. If you have a decent quarterback and surround him with a bunch of low talent players, you aren’t going to win.

Most Heisman winners, and first overall picks, have this problem. Most of them are stuck on bad teams, and then do poorly.

I agree with the poster above who said the Barry Sanders was the best of the Heisman winners. He did amazing things with a horrendous team around him. Imagine what he would have done with a better team.
