Outraged protesters stood outside of the apartment complex where the state trooper who arrested Sandra Bland lives. The DPS officer is currently on desk duty but protesters say thats not enough. They say the investigation is moving too slow and they want the trooper not only fired but indicted.
On a day when it felt like it couldnt get any hotter, Quanell X and protesters lit their own fire.
I'm a speak frank to you, in that cops mind he was saying to himself who does the N-word think she is talking to me like this. And that's when he said get out of the car I'll light you up. Well since you like lighting up black women, there's a whole bunch of black men coming today. Let's see if he's going to light some of us up, Quanell X said.
Deputies guarded off the front entrance where Trooper Brian Encinia lives in Katy and neighbors watched, as many kept saying if it werent for that trooper Sandra Bland would still be alive.
I asked Imani Windom: what's your message to the trooper specifically as being a women who could put herself in Sandra Blands position and mindset? You should think before you react just because she might have been rude, that's not against the law ...what she came off as in her strong voice ...she shouldn't have been treated that way, Windom responded.
Even Gloria Rubac a white woman stood with a sign that read Black Lives Matter.
I also believe in the slogan black lives matter because I think we have to say that white lives have always mattered but in this day and age with the epidemic of police shootings I think it's a priority for all of us to say black lives matter, Rubac said.
Protesters ended with prayer and a hope that their prayers would be answered. We also asked Quanell X if Sandra Blands family was on board with Sundays protest and he responded that it was an action he called for.
Me as well.
“when I was loving in Houston (late 80s)”
Interesting. . .I’ve done a little of that myself in Houston.
Ha! Damn autocorrect. Truth is, I was living in Houston...and loving it! I really like the city, and wouldn’t mind going back.
It’s cool. I don’t hate the guy or anything. We have been arguing for a while now about our opinions on this case, and I admit that I have done my share of prodding him.
I am at a loss to understand how some people look at the video of what happened and they not only don’t see what did happen, they see other things that didn’t happen.
It makes me think that officer’s having body cams or whatever is absolutely pointless, because even in spite of having a video of an event, people see what they want to see, and they will not see anything other than that.
So when that type of thing happens, it does get my temper going a bit.
In the end though, whatever is going to happen in this case is going to happen regardless of what either of us thinks on the matter, but it has been interesting to discuss it.
I didn't think she was in jail for the improper lane change. Why was she in jail? What was the charge holding her there? Couldn't anyone post bail?
By the way, I know one reason she may have be acting stupidly: Pot. That is a reality I don't have to worry about.
She was charged with assaulting a police officer.
The officer alleged that during the scuffle that occurred off camera that she kicked him or somehow otherwise struck him, and my understanding is that he did not receive any sort of serious injury from that.
However, assault is a fairly easy threshold to cross. One does not have to receive serious injury to constitute assault. It is basically any unwanted touching.
So she was jailed for a fairly serious charge against an officer, not for any of her traffic violations or even any resisting of arrest.
As far as bail goes, all I know is no one came for her before she killed herself. I think, and I am not sure, that the amount of cash that was needed for her release was 500$, so that’s not too high, but not everyone has 500$ laying around to spring someone.
Thank you for your good information. I read that Sandra Bland had marijuana in her system. They are not certain when she took it. It may have contributed to her irrational behavior.
“Yep, and reality sez lots of angry people”
Why don’t you spell correctly, instead of imitating scum from the slums?
Reality? A recent “reality,” and one that needs to be corrected.
There are a hell of a lot more criminals need shooting in the face than there are cops need harassing.
Now back to reality.
Officer Friendly will probably be looking for a new job soon. Unless the Gibsmedats find a new target. And dat is da facts as I see'um...
Since when is being uncivil a crime? Even to a police officer?”
There is a balance between subservience and reasonable courtesy. Cops should not be required to put up with limitless discourtesy.
Then make it a crime. Otherwise, as unplesant as it may be, the officer had no choice but to put up with it. He had no reason to arrest her simply because she refused his order to put her cigarette out and gave him some lip.
“Yes sir spelling is the issue. Now back to reality.”
Spelling right is a part of acting right, and that is reality.
“Officer Friendly will probably be looking for a new job soon. Unless the Gibsmedats find a new target. And dat is da facts as I see’um...”
And that needs to be changed.
I did spell it all right BTW. “Sez” is pronounced differently than says. The first is street slang.
“Then make it a crime. Otherwise, as unpleasant as it may be, the officer had no choice but to put up with it. He had no reason to arrest her simply because she refused his order to put her cigarette out and gave him some lip.”
As I read the article, he arrested her for refusing his order to exit the vehicle.
If someone gives a cop some lip, it doesn’t bother me if the cop knocks the crap out of them.
“The first is street slang.”
Oh, well, then, that makes it all right. It is obvious that the best thing we can do is to seize upon the very worst people among us and idealize them, to imitate their ignorant, illiterate street patois and their counterproductive attitudes.
Yep, that will get us out of this mess, for sure.
There is no “correct” spelling of street slang, because street slang is in and of itself an offense against civilization.
See here is your problem. You assume it was a typo or incorrect usage but it was chosen carefully to get a point across. And you proved it worked when you first took the use of the word to task. Because see you knew instinctively what the word represented. See the new reality is ruled by the Obama Gibsmedat voters. And I used the word to set the phrase right in the middle of that reality.
In writing you always look for the fewest and best words to get your point across and your reaction proves my phrase did exactly what I meant it to do.
Oh and it should be noted the Oxford online dictionary gives a definition of the word "sez" it notes the proper spelling of the word as well.
Definition of sez in English:
verb
Non-standard spelling of says, used in representing uneducated speech: Ive got a paper ere that sez they cant come in.'
And if the cop gives someone some lip should that person have the right to beat the crap out of the cop?
“And if the cop gives someone some lip should that person have the right to beat the crap out of the cop?”
No. However, the police should control their own. If they don’t, the cognizant civilian authority should step in.
I heard that personal TV cameras are associated with a drop in complaints against officers.
Officers acting better because they’re on camera, or a decline in false complaints? Some of each, probably, but I think the main reason is a drop in false complaints.
See here is your problem. You assume it was a typo.
I made no such assumption. If it had looked like a typo, I wouldnt have said anything.
or incorrect usage but it was chosen carefully to get a point across
Even if chosen, it is incorrect usage. It was because it was chosen that it irritated me. You chose to imitate the very worst people to be found anywhere on these shores.
And you proved it worked when you first took the use of the word to task. Because see you knew instinctively what the word represented.
Thats true. I must confess, though, that the slavish imitation and hero-worship of the gibsmedats has become a pet peevenot that I am accusing you of those things.
your reaction proves my phrase did exactly what I meant it to do.
When you do that, you inadvertently strengthen the false perception that such adventures in spelling are acceptable.
the Oxford online dictionary gives a definition Non-standard spelling of says, used in representing uneducated speech
Non-standard is PC weenie-speak for incorrect.
When the leftards slithered into and took over the field of lexicography, they changed the role of dictionaries from the traditional one of gatekeeper and guardian of the language to the passive one of simply observing and recording the evolution of the language.
Which is weasel-speak for, They set out to promote the degradation of the language because they knew it would be bad for Western Civilization.
Since that change in mission, any error that emergesno matter how ridiculousis added to new editions. As these errors are then in print, people tend to assume they must be correct.
We would do ourselves a service if we encouraged discussion of such errors, but I guess some people cannot endure the torment of having a mistake pointed out to themagain, not speaking of you. Your use of the non-standard word was deliberate.
