Angry protesters stand outside home of trooper who arrested Sandra Bland
my fox houston ^ | 7-26-2015 | Ashley Johnson

Posted on 07/26/2015 9:41:43 PM PDT by Citizen Zed

Outraged protesters stood outside of the apartment complex where the state trooper who arrested Sandra Bland lives.  The DPS officer is currently on desk duty but protesters say that’s not enough.  They say the investigation is moving too slow and they want the trooper not only fired but indicted.

On a day when it felt like it couldn’t get any hotter, Quanell X and protesters lit their own fire.

“I'm a speak frank to you, in that cops mind he was saying to himself who does the N-word think she is talking to me like this. And that's when he said get out of the car I'll light you up.  Well since you like lighting up black women, there's a whole bunch of black men coming today. Let's see if he's going to light some of us up,” Quanell X said.

Deputies guarded off the front entrance where Trooper Brian Encinia lives in Katy and neighbors watched, as many kept saying if it weren’t for that trooper Sandra Bland would still be alive.

I asked Imani Windom: what's your message to the trooper specifically as being a women who could put herself in Sandra Bland’s position and mindset?  “You should think before you react just because she might have been rude, that's not against the law ...what she came off as in her strong voice ...she shouldn't have been treated that way,” Windom responded.

Even Gloria Rubac a white woman stood with a sign that read “Black Lives Matter.”

“I also believe in the slogan ‘black lives matter’ because I think we have to say that white lives have always mattered but in this day and age with the epidemic of police shootings I think it's a priority for all of us to say black lives matter,” Rubac said.

Protesters ended with prayer and a hope that their prayers would be answered.  We also asked Quanell X if Sandra Bland’s family was on board with Sunday’s protest and he responded that it was an action he called for.

Here in my toledo they called it “falling down in the elevator”’....for some reason between the main floor and the third floor...all kinds of people hurt themselves falling down....even broke their own bones.

That shit stopped when a civil lawsuit forced a camera to be placed in that jail elevator as part of the out of court settlement.

Thanks for the transcript of the incident. I was thinking it probably went like that.

I have never had an encounter like that with the police, even when they were giving me a ticket.

My take? Her fault. She could have skated with a warning if she had been minimally civil.

Does it matter how serious his injury was? The suspect stuck a burning cigarette in the officers eye.

“There are some police officers who gets on a power trip and treat civilians like dirt.”

That can happen.

Here, she refused to comply with a lawful instruction. The law says he can order her out of her car, and once he gave that order, he cannot allow it to be disregarded. Rule one of exercising authority.

Yep, and reality sez lots of angry people can surround his house and he can be constantly looking over his shoulder till he leaves or he gets subjected to mob justice or he is lucky enough to ride the storm out.

Law is wonderful but reality can't be ignored.

She could have been the sweetest, friendliest, most politr person he ever pulled over and he could have ordered her out.

Yes. Had she not thrown a hissy-fit over what was to be a simple warning citation, she would still be alive.

A brief anecdote I know from the workplace: a guy who was harassing fellow workers online in a chat room was called in by the company he worked for for a "psych test". It was strictly harassment on the part of the company. His union advised him to go to the appointment, because at that point if he didn't show up he could be fired. He was very hardheaded though, and didn't show up. He was fired, and lost his appeal. I don't know what happened to him after that, but he didn't ever get reinstated.

He was a fool.

“Does it matter how serious his injury was?”

Yes...it does.

When you are trying to equate a cigarette with a “dangerous weapon”

Shouldnt “dangerous weapons” cause “hugh and series (TM FR)injuries?

And yet?

“The officer’s injury was not considered serious”

If you are threatend by a ‘Dangerous weapon’ like a cigarette while ISIS is targeting US citizens please GTFO of my country...you arent worth of the label “American”...you embarrass me.

You presented this as a serious excuse for the order to put out her cigarette ...it is nothing of the kind.

Isnt any capable of separating these issues?

What the hell is FR coming to?

How the frack...do you get that...out of this: TROOPER: “Do you mind putting out your cigarette, please?” BLAND: “I’m in my car. Why do I have to put out my cigarette?” TROOPER: “Well, you can step out now

Who said it was a “dangerous weapon”? The suspect stuck a burning cigarette in the office eye and caused INJURY.

There is no point in arguing about it. Carry on and goodnight.

The “Black Lives Matter” crowd may have crossed a line. Both the protesters and whoever in the department leaked the cop’s home address

Uhm...great and funny video...but I’m not black.

You don't have to be black to be arrested for refusing to obey a lawful order.

I HATE weasles...this is the post you replied to with your link to the cig in the eye:

'A lit cigarette can cause injury and can be used as a dangerous weapon"

And you chimed in with your "me too" link about a cop getting a cig in the eye trying to back up that post

And now you say "Who said it was a “dangerous weapon”? chris did...in post 107....which you read and replied to and backed him up.

Then I pointed out there was no serious injury...so now you act like you didnt even imply it with your reply to 107.

Now maybe you are used to people not paying attention...but I do...

“Do you mind putting out your cigarette, please?”

Is NOT a lawful ORDER...it’s a REQUEST.

Doesnt anyone even speak english in America anymore?

No dammit....she was mental...she killed herself...that has nothing to do with the stop and power trip about a cigarette...

Chain of events would have been interrupted. Or, her friend who told her bail would be posted that night(?) could have showed up and actually posted bail, which would also have interrupted the chain of events. She was clearly stressed out, as the other jail detainees said who talked to her. The stress was likely too much for her in her compromised mental state.

What the hell is FR coming to?

The bull-enters-china-shop approach is dangerous. I am concerned about you, for your stated intention not to comply to lawful orders during a traffic stop. Not a good plan.

I think if we took a poll of FReeper intended behaviors during a traffic stop, the results would be heavily skewed away from your stated intent.

I know life does not always seem fair, but you play the cards you're dealt. Know the rules well enough to exploit them, and not be exploited. Know when to set aside your pride, for your own good.

“How did they find out where the cop lives? “

He lives in an apartment complex. Most likely, social media.

Although, in several instances news organizations have located and published the addresses of people the reporters think are guilty of something. (Recall the publication of the address of everybody in an entire state who held a gun license. The publisher said that everybody had the right to know how dangerous their neighbors were.) Address publication is also a way to provoke news, like protests.
