Well, the main sources for Norse mythology are The Elder Edda (also called The Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda of Snorri Sturluson.

The former is very old and written by Norse pagans, the latter dates to after the conversion of Iceland to Christianity, and was written by a Christian Icelander as a record of the myths of his forebearers -- it includes commentary suggesting that the Norse myths were mythologized accounts of the deeds of legendary human heros to whom divinity was erroneously attributed.
