Trump is way ahead of these guys. The reason he is refusing to rule out third party is to keep them from treating him unfairly.
IMO the GOP and the Dems should fear a Trump third party. He’s likely to take a large enough segment of voters from both parties to win.

Trump could pull that off.
He is a household name and the public trusts him more than either party .
He might need to fire the GOP and simply do it on his own. By then Trump could have so much support he could win it. A historic political revolt of our time.
