Visitors to Yellowstone Park seem to be having trouble taking in the message that it's not a good idea to get too close to the wild bison that roam the wilderness.
The latest person to find out the hard way is a 43-year-old Mississippi woman who tried to take a selfie with one of the hairy beasts near a trail on Tuesday.
She and her daughter turned their backs to the bison, which was about 6 yards away, to take a photo with it, according to the National Park Service.
"They heard the bison's footsteps moving toward them and started to run, but the bison caught the mother on the right side, lifted her up and tossed her with its head," the park service said in a statement Wednesday.
Her family drove her from the site of the attack, near the Fairy Falls trailhead, to the Old Faithful Clinic in the park for treatment. She was released with minor injuries.

To think, so very many people visited the park for decades while actually looking around and enjoying the adventure. Now people go places for social media postings. Least when they get home they can look at their time lines to see where they went and missed.
I see it as her not being as unlucky as she was incredibly stupid.
OMG, I don’t want to put a caption to that picture. All I’ll say is “poor kid, he deserves one parent of each type”

Why do I drive way out here to view the wildlife?
All the animals live in town!
I worked in cattle auctions once, I know how fast and agile they can be, I don’t want to know what a buffalo can do...I want a fence between me and that critter.
And if I’m not badly mistaken, these and people mauled by lions on “safari” are always warned to stay away from the wildlife. I’ve never been there but I think I’ve seen on documentaries that Yellowstone has signs telling people to keep their distance.
You don’t pay attention you pay the hospital bill. I’m sure you can figure out which one is cheaper...
Agree
Bison tweeted the incident... #GoF***YourSelfie
Bison are big animals and smell bad. I never want to be that close to one again.
Later in the evening a park ranger was giving a wildlife talk and asked the audience, “How far away from wildlife should you be?” I answered, “ As far as possible!”
This reminds me of that stupid woman who jumped into the polar bear enclosure at the Berlin zoo and nearly got eaten.
A fence with buffalo doesn’t always work. I’ve seen what they do when they get pissed off, they go through it like it doesn’t exist.
Should've used a camera instead!
