Rachel Dolezal is back in the news again. Recently, the former Spokane NAACP leader, who stepped down after coming under fire for allegedly lying about her race, opened up to Vanity Fair about her life since the scandal.
Here are some of the biggest takeaways from her interview:
1. Dolezal still identifies as a black woman despite everything thats happened.p>
Its not a costume, said Dolezal. I dont know spiritually and metaphysically how this goes, but I do know that from my earliest memories I have awareness and connection with the black experience, and thats never left me. Its not something that I can put on and take off anymore.

..Dolezal says that she takes appointments for braids and weaves at her house about three times a week to support her and her 13-year-old son Franklin. A white woman thinks she's black.
A white man thinks he's a woman.
Things are getting curiouser and curiouser !

What’s new is that we are EXPECTED to believe them. If we do not, we are branded racist, homophobic and intolerant.

"allegedly lying about her race"
Uh, can we drop the allegedly part? It's a fact, she lied about her race. In the article she says that it's our problem because we misunderstood her. She claimed to be black, not African American and we are hung up on our own views of racial constructs....
Okay...

To be fair, if she likes black culture and all of that, fine. But it was just wrong to pass herself off as black and lie like she did. Lying is always wrong.
